I'm living in Germany, playing on PS4 and was a FIFA player for the last 8 years, switched to PES just 4 months ago (got PES 2019 late, because i was sick of FIFA).Gameplay: i don't think there's very much to tell. It has its' flaws of course, but if you're really into football and tactics you are going to like it. Hopefully the flaws will be mostly gone after the patch coming late october.Online Division (with regular teams): i like it more than Online Seasons on FIFA.
In FIFA you are playing a season of 10 games, where you're facing people with pretty similar rated teams (4. vs. 4., 4.5. vs 4. etc) and you get 3 pts for a win, 1 pt for a draw and 0 for a loss of course. 12 points to prevent relegation, 15 points for promotion, 18 points for the title (depending which Division you're in).
In PES it's a little different. There is no opposing team restriction, so it is likely that you'll face a 5.
team, although you're playing a 3. team. BUT the point system is different. The worse your team, the more points you get for a win. Let's say you need 1500 points for promotion and 1000 points to prevent relegation. If you're picking a 4.
team (i use Galatasaray mostly), you're getting like 530 points for a win (and 1/3 for a draw; it shows you in the team selection menu, which team gets how many points for a win). And if you pick Barcelona, you only get 220 points for a win (bc 5.). Quick maths: if you're targetting promotion, you only need 3 wins with Galatasaray, but at least 6 wins and 3 draws (or 7 wins) to promote with Barca (again it depends in which Division you are). I think you got the point. It starts with 600 points for promotion in Div. 12 or so.MyClub: nowhere comparable to FUT.
There is no grinding like in FUT, no trading (bc no market like in FUT) and it is super easy to get a good team, BUT it is hard to keep it or let's say it's hard to play with those players. Players have 10-game contracts and when they expire, it costs you around 4k GP (or 44k GP for a whole 11-men squad) to extend them - or you can buy the 10-game contracts for the whole squad with 30 coins i think (which is equal to 0.30€). It is somehow possible to get those 40k GP by playing daily matchday and also some sim games (i still don't really understand the purpose of this mode, but okay), but it's not really fun and i don't think the game is rewarding you to play more. It's more like those mobile games, where you're playing and just when you're getting into it, you don't have energy left and have to wait 8 years or so to play again or pay a small amount of money like 0.99€ to fill up your energy and continue playing.
And i'm strictly against these type of games. Like in FIFA, the gameplay is much different in FUT (quicker, more arcade) than the regular gameplay - something i also don't like about that mode.General online experience: matchmaking takes a little longer, since it's a smaller player base (sometimes it takes only 5 sec, mostly like 20-30 seconds and rarely even more than a minute to find an opponent), depending on when you're playing and your search preferences (good connection ON, similar Pass Assist level ON for me). Sometimes, but not much more, than i experienced in FIFA. Like i said, i'm living in Germany and playing on PS4: it's decent.I can easily recommend you the game, especially since it's on sale in the PS-Store right now.
Again, i switched 4 months ago and persuaded nearly all my friends to switch too and most of those are happy about it (one of them does regret it, because he misses FUT).Sorry for the long text:DEDIT: after reading all the other comments, i feel like i'm playing a different game:D probably the experience is much different, if you're playing PES for years now than for people coming from FIFA. MyClub is different to FUT.
Because there is no real market and you can only buy players through agents or scouts. But I find it much more rewarding after years of FUT.There are online divisions but its also different to FUT. You play your weekly matches, and I guess the best 10 are counted. You get GP (the equivalent to FUT Coins) for that.
With them you can buy new agents or scouts. In general it is much less of a grind than FUT, there are no squad battles, no SBCs no weekend league. The downside of that, is that there is not much to do. I changed from FUT because I was grinding Squad Battles etc. Each day and spending (too much) time with trading.
PES does not even have a web app.Gameplay wise, it looks much more like realistic football. While FUT is like an arcade game PES and even MyClub are more a football simulation. Although this years installment (I only play since last year) seems to have a lot of Flaws. Like mentioned here already PRESSING and THROUGH BALLS are an issue. I find it very hard to play online this year. I won 28% last year, this year it is only 11%. I know I am not a great player but at least I would win each 3rd game or draw sometimes.
This year it is just atrocious. I got the game at launch (haven't played an online football game for years) and have been really enjoying it.
I've had no issues with latency or a 'broken' game, just a lot of fun, although it took me a long time to start winning games. My only complaint is that I play on PC in Canada so the match making is quite poor. I can be in a lobby for ages before finding an opponent and it's never one with a similar level or team strength, I have to change my match making options to find 'any' opponent.

They usually end up having a ridiculously amazing team and win record. No, the game is in a broken state online at the moment, maybe wait for the end of October patch which is meant to be coming then judge after that, (but they have some serious work to do to get the game anywhere near a respectable level)And i personally have never played Fifa apart from the demo so can't help you on that, the lag on PES just feels random, sometimes the game can play smooth and then the next week it can be a horror show.

It shouldn't take you long to find a game if you are from London, but for a new game there is not too many people actively playing this game online right now, might change after the patches, etc.
